UP Outdoor Recreation Group is a campus-based organization which engages responsibly in various outdoor activities like camping, hiking, beachineering, surfing, kayaking/boating, skin-diving, scuba diving, mountain biking, mountain climbing, rock climbing, spelunking (caving), rapids shooting, kite flying, fishing, and other outdoor pursuits. We organize and participate in many different environmental, cultural, and social oriented activities.

During the second semester of 1987, a group of students from one of UP's camping classes became so fond of their class that they started hanging-out with their camping class instructors so that they could continue going to recreational areas even after the sem had passed. This eventually led to the creation of a dynamic organization. Hence, in May of 1988, UP ORG emerged with 33 founding members, consisting of 22 females and 11 males.
